According to Merriam-Webster, the term “Pagan” comes from the Late Latin word paganus, which was used at the end of the Roman Empire to identify those who practiced a religion other than Christianity.
In fewer words, those who went against the current.
In Pagana Films we believe in returning to the artisanal way of making films Following the lead of ancient pagans, we want to swim against the tide of industrial, meaningless cinema. We want to bring the artistry back in the Mexican film industry.

PERSPECTIVA FEMENINA
In the Middle Ages the word Pagan was specially detrimental towards women. A Pagan women was one who didn't fit a pre-established role, women who risked being accused of witchcraft to become healers, botanist, scientist etc.
With our name: "Pagana Films" we want not only to recover the magical aspect of cinema, but to honor these women.
We want to give new meaning to the word "Pagana", and empower female voices to tell our own stories.

GOALS
Women in history have been strong leaders that believe in empathy, unity and peace. And that is the kind of stories the world needs right now. Stories that have an impact on how the world perceive things and challenge it. Stories that makes us aware of how important it is to awaken
empathy in society and strengthen the relationship between countries, reinforcing our similarities as humans that go beyond languages, cultures or geographical
frontiers.
We want to join forces with co-production
in Europe, United States and Mexico to
make this happen.
